Ric regularly represents clients in cases involving insurance defense, products liability, professional liability, and workers’ compensation defense. He has extensive trial experience in both state and federal court. Ric’s commitment to his clients and detail-oriented approach adds tremendous value to his loyal client base.
Ric graduated from Duke University in 1978 with cum laude honors. He received his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1981. He joined Alford, Johnson & Salane in 1982 after clerking for Circuit Court Judge James B. Stephen. He has practiced with Barnes, Alford, Stork & Johnson, LLP since its founding in 1983.
He is a member of DRI, the American Bar Association, the Richland County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, where he has served as a lecturer at its annual trial academy. Ric has been a speaker and seminar faculty member for various insurance companies and continuing legal education organizations, addressing such topics as trial and discovery techniques, and insurance coverage. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
Outside of his legal practice, Ric is active with Shandon United Methodist Church. He taught Sunday School for over fifteen years and has volunteered for local, national and international mission projects. He also enjoys golf and running.
